A video game freak, a genius toddler, a surprise, and yet another move

Well, once again I've let the blog go for a ridiculous amount of time. I generally spend all of my spare time knitting so there's none left over for blogging, but I'm too tired to get off the couch this morning, and I'm in a blogging mood. I'll get you caught up on our life with this post, and then maybe I'll get around to writing some of the blog posts that have been swimming around in my head for awhile.

a video game freak
Gehrig is turning four in less than two weeks. How did that happen? He's the sweetest kid you'll ever meet--he doesn't have one mean bone in his body. Of course that means sometimes he gets picked on--even by his own little brother who is not quite so sweet. It breaks my heart to see kids being mean to him when he won't be mean back. Mike and I have tried to tell him it's okay to fight back if someone is being mean, or at least to tell one of us or a teacher, but he won't. He just takes it. He's a tough little guy. His new obsession is his Lego Star Wars Wii game. I limit him to a little bit of playing time in the morning, but he bugs me about it all day. He's very good at it too! I'm amazed at how many levels he's beaten and how he can figure out what to do on each level. He's a smart kid. He's also learned all of his letters, and we're working on writing them now. He can spell and recognize his name, Logan's name, and a few other short words. He still wants to be a firefighter when he grows up and knows everything there is to know about fire trucks.

a genius toddler
Logan is 22 months old, but he looks and acts like a three-year-old. He started randomly speaking in complete sentences a month or so ago, but I'm still shocked every time I hear him spout off something like, "I need help, Mommy!" or "I dropped it, the binky, Mommy!" or "I want to ride a bicycle!" He is obsessed with bicycles and motorcycles. We're planning to get him a balance bike for his birthday, and he can't wait. I think he might be disappointed when he doesn't get one on Gehrig's birthday. As I mentioned before, he's not quite as sweet-natured as Gehrig--he can be kind of a stinker--but he's still sweet. And he's my snuggle bug. He loves to climb on top of me and wrap his chubby little arms around my neck--he'll pat my back or rub my hair. Gehrig has almost always been a daddy's boy, but Logan is definitely mama's boy. Which is why I'm slightly worried about how he'll do in October...

a surprise
We got a little surprise in February. We all picked up a stomach bug, but the others got over it in a day and I didn't. So here we are with baby #3 (our first surprise baby!) on the way. I'm 11 and a half weeks, due October 27th. I was really hoping for a girl this time, but as time goes on...I'm hoping for a boy almost as much. I've been pretty sick, but I'm hoping as the first trimester draws to a close, I'll start feeling better. I'm especially excited that my parents are going to come home to help out. I've been missing them a lot lately. It's going to be so much fun!

yet another move
We moved to Portsmouth last summer, and we love it here. We love our neighborhood and having friends so close by. But we do not love our $300/month electric bill. We're not sure why it's that high, but we think it may have something to do with the fact that all of our appliances (the landlord's stuff) is at least 20 years old. :-\ So we are planning on moving again in June. We're trying to decide between two apartment complexes. We're both leaning toward one in Virginia Beach--just minutes from the Oceanfront. It's an awesome location and an awesome place, but it's far from our friends and church, a farther drive to work for Mike (but no tunnels), and there are no washer/dryer hookups. I really hate making decisions. :-\

So we once again have lots of changes coming. I'm excited but kind of scared too. I'm praying we choose the right apartment and that I can handle three kids!

I'll try to post more often...but we'll see if that actually happens.
